13. Leda and Her Allies
Why, FromSoft? This mandatory NPC gank fight is reminiscent of the frustrating Half-Light battle from Dark Souls 3. While the concept of culminating NPCs you’ve met throughout your journey is cool, the execution leaves much to be desired.
- Arena and Music: Both are great, creating a fitting atmosphere for the showdown.
- Gameplay: Summoning allies seems necessary, which can be frustrating for solo players. The rapid spawning of enemies and the presence of healing flasks for Dain and Letta make this fight a tedious experience.
Overall, it feels like a missed opportunity for a more balanced and enjoyable encounter.
12. Golden Hippopotamus
In the grand scheme of things, this boss isn’t particularly special, but it does have a solid moveset. The hippo’s design and attacks showcase FromSoft’s evolution in boss creation.
- Phase 1: Mostly consists of chomps and head slams, providing ample opportunities to dodge and counterattack.
- Phase 2: The hippo transforms into a golden porcupine, shooting thorns and performing aerial flips.
The main issues are the inability to land visceral attacks due to a bug and a somewhat cramped arena. Despite these flaws, it’s a fun battle.
11. Commander Gaius
Commander Gaius is an intriguing fight, marred by one particularly challenging move: the charge attack.
- Gravity Magic: His gravity-based attacks are visually impressive and satisfying to dodge.
- Moveset Variety: Gaius and his boar offer a diverse range of attacks, from head slams to long combos requiring precise spacing and timing.
The charge attack can make the fight unnecessarily stressful, but overall, it’s a thrilling encounter with high highs and low lows.
10. Scadutree Avatar
This boss’s design is stunning, with its withered, sunflower-like appearance. The arena, close to the Scadutree, adds to the surreal experience.
- Moveset: Includes basic swipes, projectiles, and an impressive charge attack in the second phase. The big AOE blast in the final phase is a highlight.
- Satisfaction: Damaging this boss, especially with headshots, feels incredibly rewarding.
The phase changes feel a bit redundant, but it’s a reasonably fun and visually striking fight.
9. Metyr, Mother of Fingers
From this point onward, it was tough to Rank Elden Ring DLC Bosses from weakest to strongest due to their impressive designs and mechanics. Metyr is a visually stunning boss, representing the source of the fingers.
- Spectacle: Summoning black holes and shooting giant purple lasers makes for a memorable fight.
- Arena: A trippy, fitting location that enhances the experience.
- Moveset: Includes body slams, arm hits, eyeball lasers, and vortexes, with a spectacular second phase featuring giant lasers.
While the gameplay isn’t the most engaging, Metter is a visual treat and a memorable encounter.
8. Romina, Saint of the Bud
The title “Saint of the Bud” is as cool as the boss itself. Romina’s superior moveset earns her a spot above Metyr.
- Attacks: Well-telegraphed jumps, piercing slams, rolling melee attacks, and butterfly explosions make for an exhilarating fight.
- Phase 2: Features a chaotic transition and spinning attacks that keep you on your toes.
Her design might not be the most memorable, but the moveset ensures an enjoyable battle. That’s why we have her in our stronger section of Best Elden Ring DLC Bosses Ranked.
7. Divine Beast Dancing Lion
The Divine Beast’s unsettling and scary design grabs your attention immediately. Its chaotic moveset introduces you to the DLC’s intensity, taking the higher spot in Elden Ring DLC Bosses Ranking.
- Phase 1: A warm-up with spinning breath attacks, aerial twists, backflipping kicks, and ground slams.
- Phase 2: Gains the ability to conjure storms of different elements, adding new moves and effects. The spontaneous element switches turn the fight into a chaotic duel.
The camera can be awkward, and performance drops occasionally, but it’s a great boss that lives up to the hype.
6. Putrescent Knight
This boss might be underrated, but it’s one of my favorites due to its fluid, dance-like flow.
- Moveset: Seamlessly transitions between attacks, with highlights like boomerang throws, fire waves, and delayed attacks.
- Design: A thick skeleton with a goofy head and neck, riding a weird horse. The arena is reminiscent of the Dark Eater chasm.
The combination of a satisfying moveset, unique design, and cool arena makes for a highly enjoyable fight.
5. Radahn Miquella’s Consort
The rumors are true – Consort Radahn is the hardest boss FromSoft has ever made. But is it fair?
- Phase 1: Features sword swipes and gravity magic, setting the stage for an intense battle.
- Phase 2: Mikala joins the fight, adding holy magic attacks to Radon’s moves. Some attacks are fair, while others feel overly punishing.
Despite some overwhelming brightness and a few over-the-top attacks, the fight is generally unfair and incredibly challenging. The lore adds depth to the encounter, making it a significant battle.
We are talking about the worst-to-best Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtreee Bosses here, not the Strongest Elden Ring DLC Boss Fights. Thus, we have Radahn as number 5 on our list of Best Elden Ring DLC Bosses.
4. Rellana, Twinmoon Knight
This boss feels like a classic FromSoftware knight fight, reminiscent of Dark Souls 3.
- Moveset: Clean and fun, with combos that can be followed up in multiple ways, keeping you on edge.
- Magic Attacks: Includes Carian Greatsword-like moves, long combos, and the impressive double moon attack.
Rellana’s moveset and satisfying combat make for an awesome boss fight.
3. Midra, Lord of the Frenzied Flame
We are officially in the Top 3 Best Bosses in Elden Ring DLC. Fingers crossed!
There were many controversies around the old man pulling our spine from the body, but in the end, Midra had our jaws dropped because of how visually stunning and deadly the fight was.
Starting from the cutscene, the introduction to the boss was already a peak experience, taking the 3rd spot in our Elden Ring DLC Bosses Ranked Guide.
Then, the little introductory aspects of Frenzied Flame throughout the game that result in your Madness and instant death, players were already afraid to fight Midra.
You have to make your way through the Abyssal Woods, one of the strangest and most horror places in the entirety of Elden Ring DLC, you will find yourself in Midra’s home.
2. Bayle the Dread
At this point, we shouldn’t be explaining why Bayle The Dread is the Best Boss Fight in Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree, rather it is the best dragon fight, if not the best boss fight ever made in any of the “From Software” games.
Unlike other dragons, the game forces you to hit the head of the boss here. The abilities Bayle uses, the flying animation, and the electrifying lasers he throws at you are just too mesmerizing.
In Elden Ring, it is quite known that Dragon Fights aren’t that fun, rather they just stretch the sequence, adding too much health to the dragon and the same type of attacks. You have to tuck in and hit at the right time.
But, that is not the case with Bayle, as he has a ton of attacks that you have to memorize and use different combinations to dodge, run, jump, and attack Bayle.
1. Messmer the Impaler
Messmer was considered the main villain and the final boss of Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree. But, that spot was taken by Radahn in his prime. He was the main focus of trailers, giving players terrifying imagery of the final and also the hardest boss in Elden Ring DLC.
Most people would agree that Messmer should be lower down in the list of the Best Bosses in Elden Ring DLC, but let’s go down to the details.
- First of all, Messmer has the best quality and personality among other bosses in the game
- Secondly, there is an edgy buildup for Messmer that makes him more than he actually is
- Thirdly, Messmer is like a hot and serious antagonist who never makes a mistake, and is perfect in every possible sense
- Fourthly, you have to pass through one of the most complex areas of the game to get to the boss fight, and the whole castle is just built for Messmer, having that eerie, dark, and complex look to it
- Finally, the use of bleed and fire attacks with that agility makes the fight force you to use the in-game mechanics instead of relying on luck. You have to dodge, jump, perfect your timing, and attack the specific period. You can’t even spam the flash when your health is low or Messmer will punish you
Conclusion
There you have it – the Elden Ring DLC bosses ranked from worst to best in Shadow of the Erdtree. Each boss brings something unique to the table, from visually stunning designs to challenging mechanics. Whether you’re summoning allies or tackling these foes solo, every battle offers a thrilling experience in this epic DLC. Happy gaming, Tarnished!
