That is why, Zephyrus G16 appeals to the vast majority of people such as content creators, gamers and professionals. Today, we will focus on the Zephyrus G16 Gaming Performance.

ROG Zephyrus G16 2024 Specs
Before, we get into the gaming performance, it is important to get the specs out of the way. The New Zephyrus G16 uses Intel Meteor Lake Processors and is available in the following configuration:

Zephyrus G16 Gaming Performance
The 2024 Zephyrus G16 is a solid laptop that boasts the newest and greatest from Intel and NVIDIA. It has the new Meteor Lake Processor which is more efficient than even before. Combined with a powerful GPU like the 4070, 4080 or 4090, you are sure to get a good gaming experience. But how good the experience actually is? This is the question we are going to answer as this is a thin and light gaming laptop and GPU wattage matters a lot in getting more frames.
Our first in-depth look at the ASUS Zephyrus G16 2024 seemed really promising. But as with all other laptops, ASUS had to cut some corners and, in this case, they did in the GPU department. Let’s take a detailed look!
Why GPU Wattage Matters?
When you are using a GPU on a desktop PC, it uses essentially the same wattage. But this is not the case when it comes to laptops due to power constraints. Therefore, two different laptops with the same processor and GPU, might perform quite differently.
As the G16 only starts from the RTX 4070, so we’ll start from there. The wattage for 4070 is between 35 to 115W. So, if a laptop is using the lower powered such as a 50W 4070 vs a 115W 4070, you are going to see a lot of difference in performance.
- More Wattage = Better Performance (With Some Exceptions)
The Zephyrus G16 with the 4070 is good enough as it is using a 105W model. But it when you go to the RTX 4080 or 4090, it becomes terrible. Those GPUs only provide their full power when you run them at 150W but the G16 is limited to only 115W with Boost. However, let’s make any conclusions yet and dive into the gaming performance!
Gaming Benchmarks
We had the RTX 4070 variant and therefore, all the testing was done on it. When you compare the results with similar spec’d 4070 laptops, the point we were trying to make becomes quite clear. If you are solely buying this Laptop for Gaming, then there are a couple of options out there. Laptops with higher wattage 4070s were able to beat this laptop in a wide variety of games.
To be honest, it does pretty well for being a thin and light laptop. It has the best display in any laptop period. Build quality is amazing and the speakers are fantastic but solely for gaming, it is not the best choice. You will get good results in gaming but when comparing to other laptops, it falls short. This is mainly due to the lightweight design which meant for ASUS to use lower wattage GPUs.
Should You Buy it?
If you are a professional and want something that is good for day-to-day use and occasional gaming then it’s perfectly suitable for you. But on the other hand, if you’re a hardcore gamer who wants the best performance, then laptop is not for you. This laptop aces all of the other departments with a great display, form factor, build, etc.
This is a really expensive laptop and you can get better performing laptops in this price range. So, in the end, the decision falls out upon your requirements. Nevertheless, it is still a great laptop and will serve you for years to come.
