Weapon and Armor Gear stars in Once Human are essentially an indicator of your weapon upgrade. Each gun or gear you get will be a one star. Then, you can fill in these stars to enhance the stats.
For weapons, you will get more damage, and for armor or wearable gear, you will get enhanced protection.
Like for pistol, you might have 6 stars, and for a sniper, you might have 3 stars. It depends on the blueprint of the weapon or armor.
The more stars a weapon has, the more powerful it is presumed to be. However, do these stars actually translate to a noticeable difference in damage output, or are they just for show?

How to get (increase) stars in Once Human Weapons or Armor Gear?
To increase the stars of weapons or gear blueprint, you need to get the same blueprint for that weapon. Then, you can just combine those two to increase the star rating.
Duplicate blueprint gives you fragments that you need to increase the stars in Once Human, whether it is your weapon, armor, or any gear that comes with the stars.
After you have the blueprint, follow the steps:

- Open inventory with “I”
- Go to Blueprints
- Right-click on the weapon to increase star rating
- Go to Enhancements
- Click on the + and add the blueprint
- Hold to Enhance
You will get an estimate on how many XP you need to enhance the rating of the Blueprint.
Testing Weapon Stars – Higher Vs Lower Stars Guns
We conducted a thorough test to determine whether the number of stars on a weapon really makes a significant difference in the game.
For this experiment, we used two guns, one with a single star and another with three stars.
Both guns were tested under identical conditions—no calibration blueprints were used, and both were equipped with tungsten ammo.
Note: For the armor or gear, the test remains the same as the procedure and after-effects are same.
Test 1: Bingo Gun – 1 Star vs. 3 Stars
- 1-Star Bingo Gun: No calibration blueprints, tungsten ammo.
- 3-Star Bingo Gun: No calibration blueprints, tungsten ammo.
When testing the damage output of the 1-star and 3-star versions of the Bingo gun, we observed a slight increase in damage with the 3-star version.
However, the increase was not as significant as one might expect. The difference was noticeable, but nothing game-changing.
Test 2: Tier 1 SOCR Gun – 1 Star vs. 3 Stars
- 1-Star Tier 1 SOCR Gun: No calibration blueprints, tungsten ammo.
- 3-Star Tier 1 SOCR Gun: No calibration blueprints, tungsten ammo.
In the second test, we compared a 1-star and a 3-star Tier 1 SOCR gun.
The result was consistent with the previous test—there was a slight increase in damage with the 3-star version, but once again, the difference was marginal.
The Verdict: Do Weapon Stars Make a Difference?
From our tests, it’s clear that weapon stars do increase damage, but the boost is relatively small—about 10-15%.
For players with well-optimized builds or those who are just starting out, this slight increase won’t make or break your gameplay.
You can still perform effectively with a lower-star weapon.
