In The First Descendant, creating a well-rounded character is essential for dominating the battlefield. This guide focuses on Kyle, a Descendant with a staggering 11,000% skill power modifier, making him one of the most powerful characters in the game.

We will explore Kyle’s passive abilities, skills, and the best equipment to maximize his potential. Whether you’re new to the game or looking to optimize your current build, this guide is your comprehensive resource for mastering Kyle in The First Descendant.

Understanding Kyle’s Passive Abilities

Kyle's Passive Abilities
Kyle’s Passive Abilities

Kyle’s passive ability, Experience Technician, grants him a unique resource called magnetism. This resource is equivalent to twice his maximum shield amount and drains over time at a rate of 1% per second.

Additionally, Kyle’s Magnetic Care ability, which has a 3.5-minute cooldown, allows him to recover 80% of his maximum magnetic force and shield when his shield is drained.

So, Kyle in general is a shield-based descendant, rather than health or other factors.

Skill Power Modifier and Skill Power

Whenever you have a module that has the mention of the Skill Power Modifier, it specifically mentioning the modification of power on that specific skill.

As an example above, you can see in the image that the Superconductivity Thrusters, which is a passive ability of Kyle in The First Descendant has an 11000% Skill Power Modifier.

Exploring Kyle’s Skills

Kyle’s skill set is designed to maximize his damage output while utilizing his shield as a primary resource:

  1. Shoulder Bash (Repulsion Dash):
    • Cooldown: 12 seconds per stack (3 stacks total)
    • Maximum Distance: 20 meters
    • Damage Range: 3 meters
  2. Magnetic Bulwark:
    • Drains Kyle’s shield over time to mitigate incoming damage.
    • No cooldown but has a duration limit.
  3. Magnetism Spurt:
    • Drains magnetism to deal damage over time.
    • Uses magnetism instead of a shield or health to absorb damage.
  4. Superconductivity Thrusters:
    • Skill Power Modifier: 11,000%
    • Damage Multiplier: 7,800%
    • Consumes 30% of Kyle’s maximum magnetism force gauge upon activation.

The reason why we are using Kyle as an example of making a character or descendant from start to finish in The First Descendant is Superconductivity Thrusters.

Building Kyle: Step-by-Step

1. Choosing the Right Reactor

Choosing the Right Reactor
Choosing the Right Reactor

Your reactor is crucial for boosting Kyle’s abilities. For Kyle, a tech-based reactor is ideal. Aim for a reactor with a tech skill power boost and, if possible, a critical hit rate increase. Here’s how to farm a reactor:

Choosing the Right Reactor
Choosing the Right Reactor
  • Go to the map and select difficulty-level rewards.
  • Choose enemies that drop reactors matching your desired attributes.

2. Selecting External Components

Components significantly impact Kyle’s performance. While set bonuses can be beneficial, prioritize components that enhance your shield and damage output. The Slayer set is recommended for its skill power bonuses.

3. Equipping The Perfect Weapon

The Perforator is an excellent choice for Kyle due to its high damage output and satisfying gameplay feel. However, the Secret Garden is highly recommended for its 30% skill power bonus attack, pushing Kyle’s damage potential even further.

You need to pick a weapon that suits your Reactor choice.

4. Optimizing Skill Power Modules

Modules should enhance both skill power and skill power modifiers. For Kyle, non-attribute modules are preferable as they provide the highest boosts. Avoid tech master modules as they can lower Kyle’s damage.

There is something called the Power Boost Ratio, which should look something like this:

Skill Power Modules
Skill Power Modules

There are multiple of these power boost ratios, like the skill power boost ratio, attack power boost ratio, singular power boost ratio, and so on.

Whatever your module ends up giving, you need to add +1 as the power boost ratio. We are aiming for the Skill Power 17000.

If you don’t add the +1, you will end up getting the depreciating factor in the 17000 skill power.

In order to tell which module you would benefit from, you need to go to the stat shield, like above, and then fill out the numbers of power boost ratios, and multiply them times your skill power.

This will help you understand what would be the final damage that skill will do to your Descendant in The First Descendant.

Skill Power Modifier is the modifier of a specific skill. Taking the example of Kyle, the specific skill ability we are working on has a scale power of 11000.

So, the Skill Power Modifier will be 11000 here. You have a choice in your modules, and whether you want to add bonuses to the skill power ratio or the skill power modifier.

Whatever it may be, it will be multiplicative of the raw skill power that you get from your reactor.

In general, if you have a lower score somewhere like 2, 2, 3, and so on. Then, you also have a choice to put 4, neither three nor two, and then add the four to the two, it will net you the most gains in your power.

For example: if you add a four to three, it will be 7, and seven times two is 14. If you add four to two, you end up with 6, and six times 3 is actually 18.

In general, if you can add a modifier to something, adding that modifier to the lowest value first will net you the highest reward.

All in all, you should start with the smallest numbers, and then go your way up unless that bonus is a skill power modifier that’s a separate category and belongs in the power boost ratio.

If you have a skill that has around 1000 Damage and a 6-second cooldown, and each second we have around 166 DPS each, then it is a benchmark of how much damage your skills can do at what time.

Maybe you have more weight on the skill cooldown over the damage that skill is doing just divide one onto the other. You won’t get a low value like .6 here as you don’t do .6 DPS in a specific time like 6 seconds.

How to Make a Character/Descendant from Start to Finish in The First Descendant

After you have the reactor, the weapon, and the external components, you can start going for the modules.

Modules

Picking Modules in The First Descendant
Picking Modules in The First Descendant

Start by looking at the modules, and finding out what skill power and skill power modifier work on the descendant you are building.

It depends on character to character, but with Kyle, you don’t specifically have to go with the Tech Modules, because the tech skill and tech skill power modifier would lower damage substantially.

  • Pick the defense module first. For Kyle, it is going to be a shield because he depends mainly on it.
  • Pick the attack module (in the case of Kyle, they don’t exist because attack mods for Kyle are skill power modifiers).
  • Pick a crit (critical) modifier to increase damage. Check the base stat of your character. For Kyle, the base critical hit rate is 5%. For every descendant, the maximum crit rate is going to be around 200%.
  • Put the rest as to what you like more. You can go for range, more skill, defense, or anything you like that suits your character.

Maximizing Damage Output

To maximize Kyle’s damage, focus on increasing his shield capacity. The more shield Kyle has, the more magnetic force he can accumulate, leading to higher damage output.

Additionally, consider integrating critical hit rate and critical hit damage modifiers to further enhance Kyle’s performance.
